The name “Elizabetta” comes
from the years I spent in Rome. That’s what my
Italian friends called me (I was called Elizabeth in
London and New York where I did the rest of my growing
up). I consider Italy my second home, one I visit once
or twice a year, and it was the inspiration for starting
Elizabetta.
I have always worn
silk scarves, I love the way they can change and
accent any outfit. Each year when I go to Italy I
see more and more women – and men – wearing
them. So I decided – why not bring silk scarves
back home from Italy and start a web business to
sell them. That led to my also finding silk scarves
in Turkey, and then led to expanding the line to
shawls, wraps and stoles in a variety of natural fabrics.
The quality of the fabrics, dyes and printing that
is found in both these countries is of the highest
available anywhere.
My background is
that I have been an interior
designer for nearly 20 years, and that has included
being a color consultant and a fabric consultant.
I only offer scarves in natural fibers - silk, wool, cashmere,
and pashmina, because they have an exceptional ability
to accept color dyes, they are durable and they feel
luscious and luxurious.
